A "fish eye" is a problem that occurs when finishing with lacquer. When the lacquer is applied, a roudn area will appear that will no accept finish. This round area will appear glossy and looks like a fish eye. Fish eyes are normally caused from silicone furniture polishes that have penetrated the finish. The silicone remains in the wood even through the stripping process. Ths Kwick Kleen Fish Eye Eliminator can be added to the lacquer to allow it to flow over the contaminated areas. Add one teaspoon per quart of lacquer sealer or lacquer.
